Leadership Development Groups – a new DFA Initiative

The two newly established leadership development groups - one for directors and one for production directors has their first physical meeting in the beginning of 2024.

The director group has first meeting 14 - 15 March 2024 in Copenhagen and the Production Director Group has its first meeting on January 31 to February 1 in Slovakia – including a visit at First Farms. Both groups are facilitated by Thomas Asmussen, Genesi.

Briefly on completed DFA activities
DFA ERFA group 2 visited Agrosip in Bulgaria

One of DFA's oldest ERFA groups - ERFA 2- consisting of primarily leading production managers (production directors) and having Martin Thorsen as coordinator, visited in October Bulgaria and the Austrian-owned pig farm: Agrosip, with 2,500 sows in full line.

DFA ERFA group 4 visited Idavang in Lithuania

With Henrik Nielsen as coordinator, ERFA group 4 in November visited the company Idavang in Lithuania. The group consists of 15 leading production managers. The program also included a focus on ASF and Biosecurity.

Impressions from DFA Study Trip to Japan in November
This year, 30 DFA members participated in DFA annual study trip, which went to Japan. The participants got a fantastic impression of the country - both the southern part with dense urban development and the northern more rural part with intensive farming.

DFA Benchmarking Group met in November
DFA's oldest ERFA Group - "DFA Benchmarking Group" - has met for more than 20 years twice a year - spring and autumn. This regularity reflects that the group's meetings really cover an important need to gain new knowledge and not least exchange experiences.

The group's members are all directors of an agricultural business with activities in countries such as Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Venezuela and Denmark. Johannes V Hansen coordinates the group's meetings.

At the recent meeting at the begining of November in Denmark, the group, in addition to internal exchange of experience, also received input from external experts about: Expectations for the development of the pork market in the short and long term; Protein production based on fly larvae; "Future Farming" and DanAvl's breeding strategy.

An inspiring meeting in the DFA CA Network Group in Slovakia

The DFA Conservation Ag Network Group meet 8 - 9 November in Slovakia. The main topics was: No till transition, organic farming, general cover cropping approach and mice management. The meeting was planned and hosted by the company DanSlovakia Agrar in Velky Meder.

The group includes crop managers from companies in eastern Europe including Ukraine.

15 feed mill managers had seminar in Budapest

An energetic group of feed mill and farm managers from DFA member companies had an inspiring and fruitful seminar in beautiful Budapest to widen out their knowledge within sustainable feed production. The group represents some of the largest European pork producers from 12 companies and located in 10 European countries.
The seminar was arranged in a collaboration between DSM and Danish Farmers Abroad.

Inspiring Lean Kick-off Seminar for DFA companies

Ultimo November 20 Lean managers and other interested from DFA member companies had two exiting days in Denmark. Sofie Hammerskov facilitated and led the training activities and the program through Lean games, theories, tools. The seminar included visits at Velux, Lego and an agricultural company as well.

The seminar will be followed up by organizing the managers in a DFA Lean ERFA- group, intended to start in 2024.

The new DFA Crop Manager ERFA-group met in Slovakia

The new established DFA Crop Manager ERFA-group including 15 crop managers from companies in Slovakia, Poland, Czech Repl. and Romania met at Dan-Slovakia Agrar, Velky Meder, in south Slovakia, late November 2023.

DFA HR ERFA-group met in Copenhagen

The yearly event in the DFA HR ERFA group was held in Copenhagen ultimo November 2023. Having a meeting base at Goodvalleys DK office we shared experience around HR topics in all from management of personal data, artificial intelligence, recruitment, training concepts and not at least the role of HR as a business partner and the managers responsibility for his/her people.

Ferdinand Rasztgyorgy has been a manager at Dan-Slovakia during 15 years and is to day responsible for the weaned pig department. He has participated in DFA leadership training activities and been member of DFA ERFA 4 -group during several years.

DK Embassy Chile invites to Business Delegation visit in Chile – focus on pig production
